Dash Design, established by Carla Newman née McColgan is a Scottish Borders business based at the foot of the Eildon Hills in Melrose. From the first watercolour commissions of 2016, to the diverse and creative range of services and products we see now, it has been an exciting and eventful journey.
Carla took the leap into self employment in 2016 and launched her first business "Dash PA" as a dog walker, cleaner and doodler! As time went on, her passion for the creative side of the business grew. Many hours of practice and perfecting led to her dropping the "PA" and becoming Dash Design, embarking solely as a creative designer for bespoke products and services in 2018 - much to her delight! (Although she does still love a good spring clean!)
Carla met her Surrey born husband Scott in 2017. After careful consideration, she and miniature dachshund Dashy agreed he would make the perfect Mr Dash Design. Scott moved to Scotland and the pair were down the aisle by June 2019. They married in the beautiful Yarrow Valley where Carla enjoyed planning and styling her own wedding, finally!
Remi Joy Newman arrived in April 2020 and continues to be Carla's most treasured creation.
Dash Design is now in a transitional phase as Carla navigates business with mamahood and develops ways to incorporate her current lifestyle into her products and designs. Thankfully, there is a beautiful baby model on hand for our pics!
